I hope you return safely, but I have lived in Bahrain before and I still visit there often (maybe we can hang sometime eh?haha) and it is far from boring. Manama has great night life much like Berlin almost, and its one of the most free nations in that area, there is no burka-clad women and alchohol is legal there, the weather isnt bad and the people can be uptight at first but the locals will friendly up when they realize that you are no tourist.
