By rule standards - if a rebel /bribes a cop, it doesn't matter who bounty killed him.
The rule you're trying to alter only applies with cops releasing other cop's cuffs
You could however help to control the population as cop, that's really what the positions meant for :)

Its kind of anoying when someone who has a bounty gets killed then they are imediately released by a cop who had no part in putting them in jail. Can we make it so thats not allowed?

This should really be a rule, and I'm pretty sure the rule states only release your cuffs. If that is what it states letting bounties players out is indeed against the rules.

This has already been Answered by Syles in a question I've asked him before.

Basically if you didn't cuff you can't just release unless the player inside /bribes you.

So if I'm a Cop and Vegeta(As Rebel) kills Alex and he goes to jail I can't just run in and release Alex unless Alex types /bribe.

      But then " /bribe 1$ xDDDD" happens

I think I'm going to add /bribe to my plugin, but have it send the bribe to the jailing cop regardless of proximity. That will clear up this problem.

If there is no jailing cop (such as a player who was previously jailed rejoining the server and starting off in jail) then it will just pick a cop at random to bribe.

It leads to a shit ton of favoritism like this ^

so can i like sign something somewhere saying that i will free anyone ever who says please, because i dont feel like running to the thing to take a bribe for 25$ cuz thats literally retarded, like in what way is bribing someone not favoritism? If i cared i would take a $25 bribe from someone i didnt like and not take a 50k bribe from someone i didnt, but i dont, i will free anyone that asks nicely and i dont understand how bribing me or not bribing me is going to change anything. So il sign something and free anyone who says please but why in the hell should i not free someone who asks instead of having to run up to the pd then wait for them to bribe, possibly have to explain bribing to them and then accept their $25(literally worthless) of money.

Since when was the last motd update :)?

It's been in the motd for quite some time to let bounty killed players out via bribe. Realistically though, I find it silly to leave them in there and a $25 bribe really makes no difference. We have had quite a few cases of players getting 10k+ crime via drugs and then getting bounty killed. If no one releases them they just log off.

Bounty kills at most should be a flat jail time, gives the killer enough time to bank and do whatever they need to do. Or at least max out at a certain time if we are to make a weird rule that stops cops from letting out bounty kills.

ive arrested almost 3 to 4 times as many people with bounties than i have seen killed, 90% of the time the people who have bounties are the ones robbing consistently and doing what the rp tells them to do to get money, i think it makes absolutely no sense to let them sit in jail for a flat amount for them robbing or killing when they could of been caught earlier and just been released, like i really don't understand the point of the rule in any case, did this rule come about just because noobs were butthurt after a cop let someone killing them out of jail and then they got killed again????

Honestly I think all players should be required to stay their jail time (with the max jail time being set at 200 seconds no matter how high the crime is, but lower than 200 seconds if the crime was low enough), but also make it where players can bribe the cop that jailed them to get out early.

My idea would be a single bribe amount of up to $75, scaled in the same way the number of jail seconds would be set. The cop can accept or deny it, and the /bribe command would work even if the cop isn't in range of the jailed player. The thing is, the jail system is THE thing that balances the rp game. If every cop just immediately releases their jailed person, then it's useless.
    • Re: Cops letting people out of jail when they didnt send them there

the roleplay mod is literally just making money to make more money, making people sit in jail doesnt really do anything beside just make them want to stay inside and afk/plant instead of going outside and fighting/robbing. We already have enough people who never play and only afk, jailing people doesnt balance the mod, afking is already the main way people make money.

Ok I have a number of ideas that I will implement once I finish finishing up the MySQL threading for my plugin, and doing thorough testing to make sure it can properly handle any sudden connection problems, or players joining before the connection is established, etc. Can't have players getting randomly reset.
