      I would like to propose (with acceptance / voiced opinions from other admins and players on the server ) that prop rules get erased and re-written as abuses and snags are hit along the way.

      Now before the roots have a tantrum or automatically throw this idea out the window, keep in mind a few things:
      1: main prop rules will have to be in place (mainly no door blocking & no 100% invis props)
      2: our admin team has amazing abilities as shown in some of the side projects that go on. lifting the restrictions would show their full potential
      3: we have a new player base with new opinions and wants. most don't understand why these rules are even in place.
      4: with prop limits being 10/15, we would have a lot more variation in what's being placed within houses, making setups feel more personal.

      I would like to leave it on the table to have players speak their minds on this topic, and not just leave it to a bunch of people who sit out of game.
      (no offence to those who do - I just feel this is a more hands on topic)

      Seriously - with the situation that has been outlined by TF for his new plugin handling od player-based-propping, tremendous changes are needed.

      I totally agree with all the posts above.

      We need innovation. The time of the "old" static Roleplay is over - people are bored of a 08/15 appartment design. More and more players leave this game and we need to force them to stay! With epic buildings of props!

      I used to build complex prop builds at some Users Houses but I get too restricted by the rules. (People appear to love my builds)

      There is so much potential, let us use it please!

      Let me first start off by mentioning that we will be able to increase the prop limits per player once my plugin goes live.

      However, there will be a mandatory rule that admins assign props to players that way the dynamic spawn system works properly.
      Since the dynamic spawn system only spawns the props of the players online, as well as the props of any door owners who gave those online players keys to their place, fewer props should be spawned at a given moment. Of course you also have the global props that are always spawned for decorating the map.

      I was thinking of starting us off at a 15/20 prop limit for reg/vip players. However, we will have to monitor prop numbers because I have no clue how many players are going to end up having keys for 10 different people's houses, plus how many total props when the server is full, etc. There's too much to predict, therefore those limits are subject to change. Admins will be required to check the motd often during the first couple months of the plugin running to make sure they are up to date on prop limits.

      Also gang system is in the works, but will probably not quite be ready by the time the plugin goes live. I'll try though, but I don't know.

      last night we were going over some of the props rules that we liked before and with the crouch tunnels or double jump crouches as to see if they are not excessive they can be allowed, the reason being it was unfair to cops for kicking doors, but now, the last cop I've seen to kick a door in the past month is Koala just to try it out.

      also, I wrote down a bunch of things about the props while Koala, Alex and I were talking last night, I`ll put a yay or nay beside it
      those were:

      -90 degree fences at the door to delay the attacker until they close the door. Yay or Nay

      -Crouch tunnels (non excessive) meaning not 3 right next to each other. Yay or Nay

      -absolute minimum for invisi props is 50 alpha and above...no going lower then 50 alpha. Yay or Nay

      -double jump crouches. Yay or Nay

      -Mazes. Yay or Nay

      -Traps. (new) If the player breaks into your house and falls into one of these, there is no escape unless shot and killed or suicide. Yay or Nay

      and I had some improvements for cop but I`ll post that in another forum.

      Hey Eld, your nay to the last [ie Traps] is an about-face or mistake? Mike gave me the impression that both Syle and yourself inspected his warehouse and passed it. There were traps and crouch holes in that.
      There are some demo props by Miracles and me in the room above mine at Dane's Apts - including a crouch hole. Players can test the dynamics there. Perhaps your "key press long" would be represented by the hole I built?

      The blocking of (outside) doors of houses is actually iffy but we haven't stirred that one up. :)

      That blocking bit was written during the last play at Freeman city and as a result of arguments over the tunnel doors of the houses under the Black Market , AND, the balconies of the VIP building. If this had made it into the MOTD then the door blocks at the sniper tower and the house under Black Market would be dis-allowed. Syle and Eas differed somewhat on the topic of the balconies. Bob and I have chat copies and ' lost ' forum copies of quite a lot of restrictive stuff. I favour the complete freedom approach to propping - even though I have zero hope of getting across to the Tower and zero hope of getting through Miracle's defence [even when unopposed].
      BTW - when we moved to Linesse a player dragged Eas into the map and complained about a few wire fences and the like. Eas then travelled the map and deleted a lot of 'normal' stuff. The result was him saying that he was on the verge of only allowing props for decoration - and if that didn't work, then no props at all.

      The majority of active players these days seem to want a bit of fun with their props.

      we need the new "normal" for props to be understood by everyone in the higherup community as well (including eas)
      That way we dont put the new "normal" for props in houses
      and eas (or any other firm/assertive admin) pops in and deletes it


      we need #Sidezz to step up in this thread and either oppose us all, or try something new/see how it goes

      1). I want to start off with an invisibility limit - maybe Miracles could put the 'reference standard' in the furniture show room. We will publish the alpha value used for it too so the standard can be reproduced. Other props can be compared with that visibility. Take into account the use of the flashlight.

      2). A few of you nayed/neighed at some of Miracle's list. I want to start those prop topics off from scratch. I want to see who complains and why. So, please bear with an introductory period on those.


      I will catch up with BobVeka again re the changes [temporary] to the motd.

      Several of the more active admins and many of the currently active players are in favour of revisiting all of this - so, please, all help us to establish rules which suit the current community.

      I've set up a wooden crate 863 (models/props_junk/wood_crate001a.mdl) in the furniture store, ive set the alpha to the box (100), not all props will be the same with the alpha so just use your discretion.
